Disturbing Recording Reveals Point Law Enforcement Are Stabbed in Ambush
A ranking policeman who jumped to the aid of a partner that got attacked by a knifeman was granted the Royal Recognition for Courage.
Sgt Tim Ansell fought with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he held a weapon to the neck of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the policemen and their partner, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a motorist subsequent to a traffic accident in Whalley Range in July 2023.
Brown knifed and cut the two Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster before PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a Taser.
"Policeman stabbed," the officer was heard to say over his radio.
Officer-mounted and dashboard camera video made public by the agency showed Brown, who was dressed in dark clothing with a hood up, approach to Sgt Foster from the rear with a knife outstretched.
He ran into the policeman who lost balance and went down to the ground, after which Sergeant Ansell jumped in and tried to wrestle him to the floor despite being multiple times hit with the knife.
PC Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and awaited a open target, ending the fight to an conclusion.
Sgt Ansell stated audibly: "I need assistance on my neck here, I got knifed in the throat."
Sgt Ansell sustained multiple deep cuts to his throat and further injuries to his arms and torso, whereas Sgt Foster suffered slash wounds.
The department reported Sergeant Foster utilized his palms to control his fellow officer's hemorrhaging before emergency responders arrived.
This most recent award arrives after the three officers received internal Valor Recognitions in fall 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the regional union branch in spring 2024.
They additionally received a Area Valor Recognition in mid-2024.
"The responses of the entire team ultimately rescued one another and resulted in no civilians endured any injuries."
Brown was given to an indefinite hospital order in spring 2024, as stated by the department.
