Franchise leads Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are confirmed to appear in the upcoming Hunger Games series movie, Sunrise on the Reaping.
News has broken that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
A Significant Reunion for Fans
Lawrence and Hutcherson are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. It is believed their appearance will probably be featured in a flash-forward sequence, given that the main film series concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This marks the sixth installment in the global Hunger Games franchise.
Exploring the New Story
Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a 2025 novel by author Suzanne Collins. It will be the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed most of the previous films in the series.
A New Era in Panem
The film's story are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.
The cast also includes several notable actors in important characters:
- Jesse Plemons steps into the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes is cast as a younger version of the calculating President Snow.
